Lampung is a province in the southernmost island of Sumatra, Indonesia. To the north borders of Bengkulu and South Sumatra. Natural state of Lampung, on the west and south, along the coast is a hilly region as a connection from the point on the island of Sumatra, Bukit Barisan. In the middle of the lowlands. Meanwhile, closer to the coast to the east, along the edge of the Java Sea further north, a vast waters.
The capital city of Lampung is Bandar Lampung, is made up of twin cities that is Teluk Betung and Tanjung Karang. The name of Lampung province was taken from origin Lampungnese. Before Indonesia became independent country, a resident led Lampung region and the status was as residency area (Residentie lampungche districten) with many afdeling (afdeling Teloek betoeng, afdeling metroand afdeling kotabumi). The villages/old town with traditional living characteristic could be found like Sukadana, Menggala, Kenali, Liwa, Blambangan umpu etc. A part of these town bacame the capital of regency.
Lampung province is located between 3º 45' and 6º 45' South Latitude and between 103º 40' and 105º 50' East Longitude. The humidity of this province is various between 50% and 86%, and the rainfall is ranges between 2,000 and 4,000 mm per year. The temperature ranges between 20º C and 34º C.
This province is bordered by:
North side: South Sumatra Province
South Side: Sunda Strait
West side: Bengkulu Province
East side: Java Sea
Lampung society consists of two main groups, respectively has special traditional law. They are Peminggir traditional society and Pepadun traditional society. Peminggir societies, such as, Krui, Ranau, Komering, and Kayu Agung society, live along the coast And, Pepadun society, who customarily conservative, such as, Abung (Abung Siwo Migo), Pubian (Pubian Telu Suku), Tulang Bawang (Migo Pak), Buai Lima (Way Kanan), and Sungkay Bunga Mayang, live in the inland.
Bandar Lampung is suitable as a starting point for visit to Krakatoa. Other tourism attractions around the city includes the Way Kambas Elephant Training Centre where visitors can enjoy activities like watching elephants play football or riding on the elephant around the area.
Krakatoa or Krakatau or Krakatao is a volcanic island in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. The name is used for the island group, the main island (also called Rakata), and the volcano as a whole. It has erupted repeatedly, massively, and with disastrous consequences throughout recorded history. The best known eruption culminated in a series of massive explosions on August 26-27, 1883.
Beside natural and culture tourism, Lampung also offers the tourist a variety of souvenirs. For those who love traditional handycraft, there are beautiful wall decorations and waved cloth that can be bought for the loved ones. The most prominent Lampung textile was the palepai, ownership of which was restricted to the Lampung aristocracy of the Kalianda Bay area. There were two types of smaller cloths, known as tatibin and tampan, which could be owned and used by all levels of Lampungese society. Weaving technologies were spread throughout Lampung. High quality weavings were produced by the Paminggir, Krui, Abung and Pesisir peoples. Production was particularly prolific among the people of the Kalianda Bay area in the south and the Krui aristocracy in the north.

Lampung Museum.
Lampung Museum is located in Z.A. Pagar Alam Street, about 5 km from the heart city of Tanjungkarang. It has 3.233 collections compiled from prehistory, Hindu, Buddha and Islamic Age. The Museum also collects local and foreign ceramic from China. We can also find the statue from Hindu-Buddhist period, household utensils from ancient time, old tapirs clothes, ancient traditional boat, war outfits etc.
There we can see the ancient objects, remain of ceramic from China and Siam, or household utensils, which is from centuries ago. The museum is opened on Monday until Saturday. Taman budaya or art center is place for presenting the classical music and traditional dances of Lampung. It takes about fifteen minutes to get there from center of town.
Mount Krakatau.
Indonesia belongs to one of the most volcanic and seismically active region in the world. There are 128 active volcanoes of which 76 had eruption in historic time. These were occurred in 3 belts which one of is Lesser Sunda Islands where Krakatau is located. The Indonesian Volcano logical Service classified those volcanoes as "class A" volcanoes, of which there 12 in Sumatra Island. One of those is Krakatau. Krakatau is located in South Lampung region in Sunda strait, between Java and Sumatera.
Krakatoa is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes that located in the strait between Sumatra and Java. With devastating effects this volcano erupted just over a century ago in 1883, bringing its fine ashes with the wind streams as far away as over New York City, whereas the eruption's tidal waves reached the American West Coast. At that very instant, Krakatoa vanished as if devoured by the sea, causing formidable tidal waves which in turn swept off just about everything alive from the surrounding coastal areas. However, the disappearance of the gigantic Krakatoa also meant the birth of small islands in its place, one of which is called "Anak Krakatau" or Krakatoa's Child, which is at present an extremely active young volcano. From both West Java's, West Coast, and from Sumatra's Lampung Province, this young and very active volcano is clearly visible. A boat trip to this place may be worth making.
A unique location is in the middle of Sunda strait. It's a little volcano pierce from the ocean. Krakatoa could be reached from Anyer or Carita beach. About 2,5 hours ride a speedboat and anout 3,5 hour or more by a slow diesel boat. There are three islands surrounding Anak Krakatau. All of these islands seem to be parts of big Krakatoa before the big eruption in 1883. That's why there are a few lagoons caused by the eruption. These lagoons were a home for Giant Trivially, Red Snapper, Grouper and many others reef fishes. Besides fishing, the visitors are also can enjoy the scenes of Mount Krakatoa that also amazing.
Way Kambas.
At the east part of Central Lampung there is a nature reserve named “Way Kambas“ which covers 130.000 hectares areas. To achieve Way Kambas, an asphalted road is built. It takes 2 hours drive from Bandar Lampung. In nature reserve, there is the first elephant-training centre in Indonesia to train wild elephants which are capture from outside the area because they have disturbed the people's fields. It is estimated there are about 500 elephants in Lampung, 250 of them are in Way Kambas. In this nature reserve, we can also find other wild animal such as Sumateran tigers, bears, tapirs and other animals such as deer, wild pigs and 286 bird species. If we visit Way kambas, we can see the process of training wild elephants in the elephants training centre, an attraction of elephants are playing football, elephant safari, elephants are swimming and on certain occasions, we can also join catching the wild elephants and watch the elephants which are in the sexual mood which is very rarely found in the world.
Lake Ranau.
Ranau Lake is surrounded by mountainuous highland and natural view. It is located in the West Lampung sharing border with South Sumatera Province. Liwa is the nearest town from Lampung (capital of West Lampung). Beauty of Chilli of nature that still natural made this area an area of the tour visit in West Lampung. South Barisan Hill National Park.
The area of Barisan Selatan Hill National Park is inhabited by tens kinds of forest bats, various kinds of rare animals and also various kinds of plants in the world. The forest area is located in Lampung and Bengkulu, where the data of the species have been taken. There are kinds of plants, such as beach-tree (Sonneratia sp.), nipah (Nypa fruticans), sea fir tree (Casuarina equisetifolia), pandan (Pandanus sp.), gardenia (Michelia champaka), meranti (Shorea sp.), mersawa (Anisoptera curtisii), ramin (Gonystylus bancanus), keruing (Dipterocarpus sp.), resin (Agathis sp.), rattan (Calamus sp.), and rafflesia flower (Rafflesia arnoldi). Besides, there are also many kinds of animals, for instance 118 kinds of mammals, 7 kinds of primates, 425 birds, 9 kinds of rangkong, 91 kinds of reptiles and amphibians, and 51 kinds of fish, honey bear, Sumatran rhinoceros, Sumatran tigers, Sumatran elephants, etc.
The plants, which become special character of this national park, are tall and long Amorphophalus flowers (Amorphophalus decus-silvae), giant Amorphophalus flowers (A. titanum), and giant orchids (Grammatophylum speciosum). The height of tall and long Amorphophalus flower can reach more than 2 meters.
Kiluan Bay, Kiluan Island and Kiluan Beach.
Kiluan Bay is located in on the south side of Lampung, which is famous for the number of dolphins and whales who live around Kiluan Bay. This area is also famous for its natural beauty and a paradise for who love fishing. Fishing competition held every year in this area. Known two main species of Dolphins what can be identified. There were Bottle-nose dolphin (Turciops truncatus), the bigger than the others. They had dark-grey to black color of morphology, with grey strip color on pectoral to abdominal body. Then, they had some unique habits such as calm, gently style when they had to swim, and friendly. Another species was knows as Long-nose dolphin (Stenella longirostris), whose had dark-brown to brown color and smaller than the other species. But, it had an opposite habits with Bottle-nose dolphin too. This species love an acrobatic moving, lively, and skillful to swim. Sometimes, when we found this species, they always show their fascinating acrobatic.
The Kiluan Island can be reach in about 10 minute from Kiluan Bay by using traditional boat, call it Jukung. Kiluan Beach is awesomely pretty. Visitors can snorkel nearby the beach, visitors also can take walk go through the island probably around half an hour to complete it, enjoy the white sand beaches and beautiful natural sights around the coast and the sunset amoung solid reefs at the other side of the island. This is one of the best tourism interesting place in Lampung.
Kiluan Bay is located in Negeri Kelumbayan Village, Kelumbayan sub district, Tanggamus Regency, about 80 km from City Bandar Lampung.
Way Gelang Beach.

Labuhan Jukung Beach.

Pasir Putih Beach.
Pasir Putih beach (White Sand Beach) is one of the tourism objects in Bandar Lampung for domestic and foreign tourists. For the sake of it, the cleanness of the place is preserved. Across the Pasir Putih beach, shady trees are planted to cover the tourists after they feel like getting enough sun from walking down the beach. The water is clean and fresh to bath and play in, and the white sand gives peace to the tourists. This place is perfect for spending holiday. Besides the treat above, in the afternoon, the tourists can watch the sunset. If tourists want to watch the coral and sea creatures, they can swim until certain border or use motor boat until the middle part. This place has amazing kinds of fish, coral reef, and sea plants.
Pasir Putih Beach is located at 16km to the south of Bandar Lampung city. With the view of Lampung golf, you can spend a great vacation there.
Kalianda Beach.
Kalianda is a beach at 30km away of Bakauheni harbour. For those who seek for a relaxed and peaceful place, Kalianda beach is the right destination. Kalianda is also a peaceful town with the view of Lampung gulf and Mount Rajabasa. With the developed tourism potentials, your vacation is likely to be the unforgetable one.
Pisang Island.
Pisang Island or Banana Island is a small island in Krui Sea, West Lampung. The island that overlooks Krui town is about 285 km from Bandar Lampung, and only about 45 minutes by fishing boat from Krui pier, and about 15 minutes from Tembakak Village. Tembakak Village is a small town in the mainland of Sumatera, located right at the “stern” of the island.
Pisang Island is small island, it's only about 2,310 hectares wide, with about 1,000 populations. The island which bore a criterion of a wealthy island in the past is now nearly desolated. Thousand of people have moved to the mainland of Sumatera or Java since 80’s. This exodus makes the island quieter.
Pisang Island is an interesting island for island recreation and others related beach activities. The island is beautiful and the beaches are incredible. In this island, visitors can sunbathing, swimming, canoeing, sailing, diving, fishing, and of course photographing. Surfing is not so good in this island, though some surfs come out some times. Don't expect that you can get a lot of bananas from the island because the people of the island usually go to the mainland to buy bananas.
Pekon Hujung Village.
Pekon Hujung is a village situated in the slope of Mount Pesagi which has typical architecture of West Lampung District. Its nature, culture, and traditional architecture are the enticements for tourists. Since 2005, the village was planned as one of tourism destinations in Lampung Province. Thus, the local government refurbished the access to the location so that it can be accessed by car. Moreover, the local government also planned to build some guesthouses for visitors who want to take rest around the location for several days more.
Beside the villave it self, this village also know as a place where Kebut Pesagi celebration is held annually. Here, visitor can feel the tranquility of surrounding area which has fresh air and alluring nature.
Tapis Sarong.
Tapis cloth, a dress for women of Lampung tribe, is a sarong made from cotton yarn with motive or ornament from tobacco quid, silver or golden thread with embroidery system (Cucuk). Tapis of Lampung is considered as traditional handicraft because the basic cloth and it`s motives ornament is done by the traditional weaver with simple tools.
This handicraft was made by women, both the housewives and girls (muli-muli) in their leisure time to comply the demand of the sacred tradition of the Lampung people. Nowadays, by using the non-machinery equipment, the production of Tapis cloth with various ornaments has become a high economic commodity.
