Situbondo Tourism Travel Guide and Tourist Information.

Situbondo is one of regencies in East Java, Indonesia, which lies on the north coast between Probolinggo and Banyuwangi and it thirty-five kilometers northeast of Bondowoso Regency. Also Situbondo Regency can be reach about 4 hours drive from Surabaya and about 5 hours from Denpasar, Bali. The Area of Situbondo district is 1,638,150 km2 and its one of tourism destinations in East Java with containing beautiful beaches, mountains, hills, forests, and historical heritages of Dutch colonial.

Geographically, Situbondo is state about 113 degrees 30' - 114 degrees 42' east longitude. Its average temperature is 7 degrees 35' - 7 degrees 44' south latitude.
Borders of the area of Situbondo Regency is :
- on the west : by Probolinggo Regency.
- on the north: by the Straits of Madura.
- on the east : by the Straits of Bali/Banyuwangi Regency.
- on the south: by Bondowoso Regency.

Baluran National Park/Wildlife Reserve.
Located at Sumberwaru village, Banyuwangi District and Situbondo Regency (on the east border of Java Island), just off the Surabaya-Banyuwangi main road, it is dry country-side of open forests and scrub land, bordered at the coast by marshes, swampy groves and white beaches. A land-rover or jeep is perhaps the only vehicle that can stand the long haul across these rugged grassy plains. Here, the banteng wild ox, deer and birds can be photographed in their natural habitat.
Baluran National Park is a forest preservation area that covers about 25,000 hectares of the north coast of East Java. You can enjoy the panorama of savannah and mount Baluran (inactive volcano) in the center of area that becomes habitat of many exotic animals such as wild pigs, deer, peacocks, wild chicken, some species of monkeys and also bulls as the protected animals in the area.
In Baluran National Park, you can laso see a historical place called Japan Cave and its one of historical witness that in this place (Baluran National Park) was happened battle between Indonesia army against Japanese army. Japan Cave has wide about 12 km that contains in 2 chambers. The north chamber was used to save the weapon, while the south chamber was used as a fissure to see an enemy.

Bekol Savannah.
Beside the Japan Cave, in the Baluran National Park there are also call it Bekol savannah. It's about 12 km from the entrance Baluran National park. You will see a flock of deer, bulls, etc, in the morning and in the afternoon (when the sun goes down) to do their activity. You also can see their activity and behavior of those animals from the height.

Bama Beach.
Bama beach is located in the east of Baluran National Park. Visitor can see the mangrove forest, Bama source and Mantingan source. One of special moment here is that you can see monkey with the long tail (Macaca fascicularis) that fishing crabs with their long tail.

Pasir Putih Beach.
If you're happen to be driving in a private car between Surabaya and Bali, this lovely beach may be worth visiting for a few hours or, if you prefer, an overnight stay to relax after driving long hours coming from either way. For you to enjoy here is fishing, sailing, swimming, snorkeling, wind-surfing, water-skiing or just simply sunbathing. Good seafood is available at some beach-front restaurants where nearby small souvenirs are for sale.
Pasir Putih tourist resort lies on the north coast of East Java and along Bungatan district 21 km to the west of the centre of Situbondo and 174 km from Surabaya (about 4 hours) and about 2 hours from Ketapang, Banyuwangi.

Tanian Lanjang House.
Tanian Lanjang is traditional house of Situbondo People. Physically, Tanian Lanjang is houses regency of a big family that has a wide courtyard. According to the myth, this is aimed to educate and increase tolerance feeling for who are live there in an interaction of each other. The Traditional house can find in east area that is Asembagus (about 28 km from the center of the city to east direction), Kapongan (15 km of the center of city) and Mangaran (10 km to north from the center of city).
Tanian Lanjang traditional house has its unique architecture. This house represents itself in its style of sociality life. Made of teak wood and decorated with wooden carving and some interior.
