Pasuruan Tourism Travel Guide and Tourist Information.

Pasuruan regency is one of tourism destinations in East Java, which has potency of nature, culture and tourism attraction that be able to expose the completely tourism enchantment (The East Java Natural Enchantment), located 60 km south of Surabaya.

Pasuruan Regency has a strategic position of development center among the cities of Surabaya - Malang - Jember and the hinterland "Gerbang kerto Susilo" which is supported as a unit of development area of Malang Pasuruan having the 13th position of development area in East Java. The total area covers 1,474 km2 or 3% of East Java area.

Mostly tourism object at Pasuruan consist of nature and marvelous culture, such as panorama of mount Bromo seen from Penanjakan, or the fascinating of Tretes tourism area, the amazing of agro tourism area in Tutur, recreation area at Prigen, which presenting multifarious animals in Safari Park Indonesia II, the center of recreation and entertainment amusement of Taman Dayu, Fina Golf and there are still a lot of tourism object which is interesting to be visited.
The region boundaries of Pasuruan regency are:
North side : Java sea
South side : Mojokerto regency
West side : Sidoarjo
East side : Probolinggo

Beside its tourism object, Pasuruan also has industrial area and crafting which has its own characteristic, such as; small industry and crafting of embroidery in Beji, Bangil, gempol, and Keraton. Crafting of wood in Prigen and Karangrejo. Crafting of accesories in Bangil and Gempol and also crafting of iron in Gempol and Poh Jentrek.

Mount Bromo Scenery.
Mount Bromo scenery is primary tourist attractions in East Java that can seen from the top of Mount Penanjakan that has altitude 2.774 m above sea level and it is the highest top Tengger Mountain range. Visitors can see beautiful sunrise, sand sea and the scenery of Mount Bromo. Mount Bromo can be accessible from Malang and Surabaya just only 95 km. In addition, visitor can see the uniqueness of Tenggerese tradition, which has mutual work in Tenggerese culture the ritual activities still exist such as Kasada, Karo, Unan-unan, Entas-entas, and Purnama Tilem.

Taman Safari Indonesia II.
This tourism object is located at Jatiarjo village Prigen distric. This natural preserve is the branch of Cisarua - Bogor natural preserve. As the natural wild life, preserve Taman Safari Indonesia II collects various wild animals. This wildlife preserve is 295 hectares, the wild animal such as : lion tiger, wild buffalo, komodo, rhinaceros, bison that live in open area. Lies at the slope of Mount Arjuno 800 – 1.500-meter sea level cover 340 ha and divided three zones. Wild life zone, place for visitor observing a natural wild life.

Purwodadi Botanical Garden.
Founded in 1941 for the study of plants growing under relatively dry conditions, the Purwodadi gardens lie about 30 km northeast of Malang just off the Surabaya-Malang main road on the lowest slopes of Mt.Arjuno at about 300 meters altitude. It covers an area of about 85 ha (212 acres).
Now the Purwodadi Botanical garden is a branch of Bogor botanical Garden that has managed by LIPI (Indonesian Scientific Institution).

Coba Baung Waterfall.
The waterfall is 100 meters high as one of natural attractions. It is located at Purwodadi village exactly in the east of Purwodadi Botanical garden. It has surrounded by a protected forest with various animals like monkey, deer, etc. It has provided with camping ground. This natural waterfall has clear water from the mountain and surrounded by natural forest.

Jawi Temple.
This temple is a holy building of Hinduism and Budhism that has built in 1300 AD by Kertanegara, the last king of Singasari Kingdom. It is located at Candi Wates village Prigen subdistrict on the way Tretes Pandaan, it’s about 40 minutes drive from Surabaya. The height of this temple is about 24,50 meters with the length 14,20 metres and 9.50 metres wide.
Jawi Temple is one of Pasuruan historical temple that has a unique form. This temple is an old temple in East Java that build for remain the last King of Singasari. The temple also said as the last rest place of the King before he finally died.

Belahan Temple.
The cultural tourism attraction located on the slope of Mount Penanggungan, in Wonosonyo village, Gempol district, Pasuruan regency. The building is unique and interesting because the temple has completed with swimming pool. Formerly, it had used as the resting place of King Airlangga, which immortalized as statue rides on Jatayu. The temple has superiority in historical aspects namely: the uniqueness and mysticism, because it has different form with the other temple in East Java. One of its statue is formed a woman who hold her breast and take out water. This water comes from natural water source of the mountain.

Gunung Gangsir Temple.
The temple is located as gunung Gangsir village, Beji subdistrict. The temple is unique and interesting because the material of this temple was made of brick that’s well arranged. Formerly, this temple was known as “Kebon Candi” temple, on account of the location of the temple is in Gunung Gangsir village, so the local society call it Gunung Gangsir Temple.

Bull Racing (Kerapan Sapi).
Bull racing is a sport unique and it popular since 15th century in Madura. These exciting contests are held between two or three pairs of Madurese bulls, guided by jockey who rides on a sledge pulled by the animals. The tradition is said to have been founded by She Ahmad Baidowi, also known as Prince Ketandur. He had a great fondness for agriculture and was the first of his people to use bull to pull the plough. As other follwed him, it was soon discovered that the bulls liked to race while ploughing the fields. The sport has since become a tradition among the Madurese, who hold annual races. Before the competition begins the bulls are brought around the arena accompanied with Seronen music and wipe dance. It is held at 09.00 a.m.
The bull owner are challenging with others to build a winner bull racing. They don't mind to spend a lot of money to get the best and win the racing. The Bull Racing competition always held on August to September that begins from sub-district, to district, and finally prefecture. Then the final racing will held in Pamekasan that fighting a president cup.

Ujung Dance.
This traditional dance is a combination of art and sport, it is performed by Tenggerese to celebrate the wedding and circumsition ceremonies of Tenggerese villagers and the ritual ceremonies of Hinduism. This attraction is show one’s invulnerability of rattan hit which causes no injury, it is performed by two persons face to face and accompanied by a Tenggerese traditional music.
This attraction is commonly held once a year and followed by the society around Pasuruan regency. This attraction looks so terrible when it has hit his back. We will not find the same attraction in other area except Pasuruan.
