Magetan Tourism Travel Guide and Tourist Information.

Magetan is one of regencies in East Java Island that bordered with Central Java province. The town of Magetan is located south west about 169 km from Surabaya. The second level region of Magetan occupies a lowland plain about 63 m above the sea level and is located in a river valley of Sungai Madiun, it is about 30 km from Bengawan Solo. The region is surrounded by the mountains range. The east part of the region there is Mount Wilis (2,169 m), and the south part is bordered by Kapur Selatan mountains range with the average height 500 - 1000 m above the sea level. To the west part there is Mount Lawu (3,285 m) and to the north there is Kendeng mountain range with 100 - 500 m height stretching from the east to the west and the toral area is about 688,82 km2.

Magetan regency also has industries of feather art, bamboo, and traditional music. It also developed the agriculture and horticulture that give it the vegetables and oranges. The famous orange of Magetan is pamelo and Srinyo orange. Those orange plantation is located in Sukomoro and Bendo district, Magetan.
This region boundaries is :
- North side: Ngawi Regency.
- East side: Madiun Regency.
- South side: Ponorogo Regency.
- West side: Central Java Province.

The temperature in Magetan is 16-20ºC in mountain area and 22-26ºC in low area. The rainfall is about 1.481 - 2.345 per year in high area and about 876 - 1.551 mm per year in low area. This region condition make Magetan regency has big potential in plantation and tourism aspect. Beside its tourism object and orange plantation, Magetan also famous with its traditional art such as; Gondang Baru dance, Iring-iring dance, and Godril dance.

Lake Sarangan.
magetan_sarangan_lake_01Lake Sarangan is a hill station favored by the Dutch in colonial days. It is half way between Madiun and Solo. The village straddles the southern slope of Mount Lawu, an inactive volcano. At an altitude of 1,287 meters evenings are chilly. Lake Sarangan also called Lake Pasir is stay at mount Lawu foot; it’s about 16km (west side) from Magetan city. The wide of Sarangan Lake is 30 Ha with its depth 28 meters, and its cold air with temperature 18-25 C. There are various facilities on this area, such as; hotel, restaurants, paddle canoe, play ground and horses, which has supplied for the tourists from various region and even foreign tourist.

Tirtasari Waterfall.

At this Tirtosari Waterfall location can be enjoyed beauty natural, water that flow from about 50 M height downward through a slot that flanked by precipitous stones give a beautiful view and it interesting. According to public belief if we enjoy the Waterfall Tirtosari we earn to ageless and beautiful.

Mount Lawu Peak.

Lawu Top tourism can reach from admission gateway reside in Cemorosewu village, district Plaosan, while the location of admission gateway stay at province road line connecting Magetan-Solo through Tawangmangu, so that the tourism object can reach Mount Lawu top from both Magetan and Karanganyar easily.
This area used for ritual visitor because there are so many heritage of King Brawijaya V.

Reog/Sadon Temple.
magetan_sadon_temple_04Reog or Sadon Temple is one of an archeological heritage from the Airlangga kingdom which is located in Cepoko village, Panekan district, and northside of Magetan regency.

 


Labuh Sesaji Ceremony.
magetan_labuh_sesaji_05Labuh sesaji is one of the annual events that held in Lake Sarangan. It is performed in ruwah month, Friday pon (Javanese date). It is ‘Bersih Desa’ (Clean Village) event marked with Labuh "Sesaji" to Sarangan Lake. It is the thankful expression from public to the one supreme God because the present of Sarangan Lake, so that it give the prosperity for Magetan public and Indonesian.
