Gresik Tourism Travel Guide and Tourist Information.

Gresik Regency is popular with industrial and commercial centre, located in 20 km northwest of Surabaya, East Java, be industrial town with Semen Gresik factory which is famous in Indonesia, there is also big wood crafter home industry and build since 1976 and Rattan industry which produces rattan furniture and its other marketing exports. In this town there is Sunan Maulana Malik Ibrahim cemetery who is one of 9 holy men in Islam religion in Indonesia, first Islam spreader in East Java who pass away in 882 H or 1419 A.D and buried in Kampung Gapura Gresik. And in about 2 km in South side of the town, precisely in Bukit Giri we can find Sunan Giri cemetery who is also one of 9 Islam spreader sponsors in Java. The commemoration ceremony of Sunan Giri’s died (Haul Sunan Giri) scheduled in calendar of East Java Tourism. Besides, there is also Leran grave that is mother of Sunan Giri grave, which located in Leran village, Manyar about 8 km from Gersik town. Gresik regency covers the land area of Gresik itself and the isle of Bawean extending at 1,173.69 sq. km or 1,173 Halt comprises total land area of Gresik at 984.94 sq. km and total land area of Bawean isle at 188.75 sq. km.

The bordered this regency is :
- the north: by Java Sea
- the east : by the straits of Madura and Surabaya municipality
- the south: by Sidoarjo regency
- the west : by Lamongan regency

As a commercial centre make the regency have many visited by Chinese, Arab, Gujarat, Calcutta, Siam, Bengali, Campa and others merchants. Gresik start coming up in regulation of history since had grow of Islam in Java Island Region. The Islam religion spreader is Syech Maulana Malik Ibrahim with Fatimah Binti Maimun came to Gresik in the early of 11 century.

Gresik regency has various fascination tourism destination such as : Nature tourism, Cultural tourism, Special enthusiasm tourism, Special interest tourism, Religius tourism and recreation/entertainment amusement and the most of natural tourism including in Bawean island.

Gresik Hot Spring.
Gresik hot spring is located in Sawahmulyo village (Bawean Island), Sangkapura district. It is about 80 miles away from the capital of the regency, can be reached by ships/ jet foil.

Lake Kastoba.
Lake Kastoba is located in Peromaan village, Tambak district. As one of nature tourism object pledge in Bawean Island, generally physical condition is hardly promise for the tourists, with clear water and fresh fascination, and you can drink it directly although it isn’t cooked before. It also supported with the greenness natural forest plant around the lake, seems add its beautiful lake along the view eyes.

Bawean Island.
Bawean Island with its nature tourism object, administratively, Bawean island is included to Gresik district, East Java. It is located on the North of Gresik district and it is about 80 mills from the town of Gresik, and it takes 3 hours boat rice by express speed boat and 8 hours normal boat. The width of Bawean is 194, 11 km square consisting with two sub districs; Tambak and Sangkapura. It is rounded by some small islands at the East; Gili, Noko/Selayar, Telur and Batu Kerbau, Karang Bilah, Tanjug Cina and Nusa islands at the West. It is only Gili island that is populated with 700 people from the others. Another beach in Bawean Island such as Labuhan beach and Mayangkara beach is located in Kepuh Teluk village.

Noko Island.
Noko Island or Selayar that located in east side of Bawean Island, Daun village. The other beach is Labuhan beach that also has calm wave. It is located in Tanjung Ori village, Tambak district. Mayangkara beach is located in Kepuh Teluk village, Tambak district. This beach is the location of Siti Zaenab, Sunan Giri’s wife when she had anchor, then known as Ibu Rambut Panjang - Mother Long Hair. Beside its sand sea, the visitors also can enjoy its sea park that has white sand.

Lowo Cave.
Lowo meaning is "Bat", so this cave is also called Bat cave. The cave is dwelt by many bats, that’s why it called Lowo Cave. This cave is located between mining of Gresik cement border, about 20 km of congestion sign.
Lowo cave is located in Pongangan village, Manyar district. This cave is still original and natural cave with its interesting bats.

Long Grave.
Long Grave in Indonesia call it Makam/Kuburan Panjang has a unique legend and it cultural tourism that trusted by society around, located in Lebak village, Sangkapura district, with about 3 Km to west. There are two long graves in the village, in point of Tinggen beach and in public funeral. Both of the graves have about 15 meters length and 2 meters width.

Siti Zaenab Grave.
The grave is located in Diponggo village, Tambak district, about 5 Km to west. Siti Zaenab known as Sunan Giri wife who passed away when she had journey complete with household facilities. At that time, she found at anchor along Mayangkara beach by Ibu Rambut Panjang.
The grave location is very strategic completed with supporting facilities for religious service both of Mosque and also relax place for the pilgrim, and there is museum for save fully goods property of Waliyah Siti Zaenab.

Siti Fatimah Binti Maimun Graveyard.
The grave is located in Leran village, Manyar, about 5 km toward Pantura from Gresik town. The tourism fascination is the old Islam spreader’s (in Indonesia) cemetery. According to a history, Siti Fatimah Binti Maimun is the daughter of a King from Gedah, which when he arrived in Gresik port, he felt sick and finally pass away at 1082 A.D.

Sunan Prapen Graveyard.
The grave is located in west side direction from Sunan Giri grave. Besides Sunan Prapen grave, there are also other graves of Islam religion figure such as: Panembahan Agung Grave. The interesting tourism of Sunan Prapen graveyard is the omission sites that carved on the wall and grave dome, describes commerce prosperity in that period.
Sunan Prapen figure is related to dynasty Giri, which open up by Sunan Giri that is Sunan Prapen in 1548 - 1605, continued by Panembahan Kawis Guwo in 1605 - 1616, and followed Panembahan Agung in 1616 - 1636.
Sunan Prapen pass away in 1605 and then its funeral become funeral complex of the next Giri ruler.

Sunan Giri Graveyard.
Sunan Giri also called Joko Samodro and Raden Paku, then nicknamed by Raden Rakhmad and because of his special things that owned by Raden Rakhmad, Sunan Ampel called him Ainul Yakin and later when he declared as head of Islam government in Java, he got a titled ‘Prabu Satmoto’ is son of Syech Maulana Malik Ishaq with princess Blambangan, Dewi Sekar Dadu.
Sunan giri who one of Wali Songo member that also propagate Islam religion in Java Island, pass away at 1428 saka or 1506 A.D. Sunan Giri Grave located in Giri village, Kebomas district, Gresik regency, about two 2 km toward south side city of Gresik. The grave complex that stays in Giri hilltop located in middle of family graveyard and public in that era.

Maulana Mailik Ibrahim Graveyard.
Maulana Mailik Ibrahim is the first Islam religion spreader figure in Java Island, and is one of sponsor out of nine eldest sponsors. The grave located in Gresik city, precisely in Malik Ibrahim Street. The graveyard complex is encircling by funeral of family and public. Beside its location, in west direction, there is graveyard of the first Gresik regent Raden Pusponegoro with his family.
The grave building that has its own characteristic compared to other grave is very interesting to visit. This uniquely can be seen from its tombstone material and Arab article style that found on that grave. The Tombstone that has Gujarat style is made from marble stone is in ship keel form typical of Gujarat, and its setting Arab article is found a lot in Gujarat country.
