Bojonegoro regency is rich of tourism objects and culture tour. Most of the population of Bojonegoro regency is work as farmers or foresters. Many still live in poverty, especially in southern part of the regency, where the soil is less fertile. The major population centre is Bojonegoro town, located on the southern bank of Bengawan Solo River.
There are some communities that live in Bojonegoro regency. One of distinctive communities in Bojonegoro is ‘Samin People’. They were ethnically indistinguishable from other Javanese people. However, they follow a unique communalism movement. Currently, the Samin people reside in the southwestern part of Bojonegoro regency, in the middle of its teak forest.
Bojonegoro Regency has 230.706 Ha widths, with the number of inhabitant is 1.176.386, and is part of East Java province. Its location is about 110 km from East Java province. Bojonegoro regency has some tourist attractions such as, nature tour, artificial tour, cultural tour, pilgrimage tour. One of Bojonegoro tourist attractions that become the mainstay is Kayangan Api, this tourism object is the biggest eternal fire in Asia and estimated the biggest in the world.
Bojonegoro is bordered by :
North side: Tuban regency
East side: Lamongan regency
South side: Madiun, Nganjuk and Jombang regency
West side: Ngawi and Blora (Central Java).
Whereas, Bojonegoro regency is has a lot of interesting tourism objects, which usually visited by many people in the holiday season. This area is support with its good geographical and good mountainous area, so that Bojonegoro becomes one of tourism area supplier in East Java province.

The Eternal Fire (Kayangan Api).
The name of “Kayangan Api” is a fire source that never die, located in the forest in Sendangharjo village, Ngasem district. Kayangan Api is a place of Mbah Kriyo Kusumo or Mpu Supa took a rest, he also known as Mbah Pandhe from Mojopahit. In the west side of Kayangan Api, there is a puddle of mud that contain of sulfur, and according to belief, at that time still made farm tools and heirloom such as; keris, spear, cundrik, etc. Bojonegoro people are still believe that this fire source is sacred and according to the story, this fire had take if there is an important ceremony that had done in the past, such as; Jumenengan Ngarsodalem Hamengku Buwono X and took the fire through a requirement that is traditional party / Wilujengan and Tayuban with Javanese Song (Gending) of eling-eling, wani-wani and gunung, which is Mbah Kriyo Kusumo’s favorite song. At certain time, especially on Friday Pahing (Jum’at Pahing = one of Javanese days) there are many people come here to make a wish in order to get success, get married partner, get high status and even also to get the heirloom. The traditional ceremony that has done by the people is Nyadranan (Bersih Desa / the anniversary of a village) as thank you expression to the God.
Tayub Dance.
Tayub is companionship dance that very popular in Bojonegoro people and around it. This dance usually done by men and accompanied with Gamelan instrument and Javanese songs that sang by ‘Waranggono’. The lyric is usually filled of an advice or instruction. This dance show is common used to fill an event that held by Bojonegoro people or the other traditional event. Commonly, in doing the event, this Tayub dance are has coordinate in a certain group with its each name. Usually, this Tayub dance groups are located in Temayang district and Bubulan district that located about 30 km of Bojonegoro city.
