Bangka Belitung is one of province in Indonesia provinces, is an island lying east of Sumatra, Indonesia, includes two large islands, Bangka and Belitung, and several smaller ones, which lie east of Sumatra, northeast of South Sumatra province. Bangka Belitung or usually call it "Babel" Islands and one of the newest provinces in Indoneseia.
Bangka Belitung separated by the Bangka Strait; to the north lies the South China Sea, to the east, across the Gaspar Strait, is the island of Belitung, and to the south is the Java Sea. The size is about 12,000 km². Most of the geographical faces of the island consists of lower plains, swamps, small hills, beautiful beaches, white pepper fields and tin minings.
The largest city is Pangkalpinang which also serves as the capital of Bangka Belitung province. Sungailiat is the second largest city in Bangka Belitung island. Muntok is the principal port in the west. The other important town are Toboali in the southern region, Koba an important tin mining town, also located on the southern part of the island, and Belinyu a town famous for its seafood products. There are 4 sea ports in Bangka; Muntok on the far west, Belinyu on the far north, Sadai on the far south, and Pangkal Balam are the closest one to Pangkalpinang.
Bangka Belitung province is located between 104°50' - 109°30' East Longitude and 0°50' - 4°10' South Latitude with two seasons that are suitable for sailing to these islands: February-March and October-November, when the wind and the waves are low. The heaviest rainfall is around 2,500 mm per annum with its average temperature between 25°C - 26°C.
People's house Bangka Belitung usually has the shape of the stage, especially them who settled in the plain, like the coast and the swamp. One of the ceremonies is Rebo Kasan Ceremony that done by Air Anyer village people. It is believed that one day of a year, the God give His 320,000 angels in the world. The people must together to pray. This ceremony was held in the beach, but now on, it held in the mosque then continued to the beach. Formerly, this ceremony become the people party with its star party is ‘Dambus’ art.

Matras Beach.
Matras Beach is located in Sinar Baru Village, Sungailiat Regency in eastern of Bangka Island. In about 20 Km from Sungailiat City to the north, it's considered as the best in Bangka Island. The beach is about 3 kilometers long and its width is almost 30 meters. It is unspoiled white sandy beach with coconut trees around the beach area, the tropical breeze and sunshine. Enjoy the warm and clear waters of the blue sea or just have a cooling swim in the river entering the sea. This beach commonly called as the Heaven Beach because it surrounded with coconut trees and visited by a lot of visitor especially in weekend and public holiday season.
Tanjung Kalian Beach.
Tanjung Kalian Beach is located in approximately 9 km from the city of Muntok, is a tourist area adjacent to the part of the lighthouse. Besides the beach it self, on this place visitor also can see the remnant shipwrecks former World War II. The beach is ideal for sunbathing, swim and play with sea water and sand along the beach is quite clean and soft.
Romodong Beach.
Romodong Beach is located at Bukit Ketok Village, Belinyu sub-district, Bangka regency. This beach is about 77 km of Sungailiat town. The length of this beach is about 4 km and visitor also can see the sunset. The beach is slope, white sandy and soft with clear water.
Air Mas Beach.
Air Mas Beach is located about 13 km from Simpang Teritip sub-district, Rambat Village. Air Mas Beach has white sand and clear water blue sea and the great composition of the rocks that lie along the coast. on this beach visitor can sunbathing, swim and play with sea water.
Mentiba Beach.
Mentiba Beach is located in Pangek Village, Simpang Teritip sub-district. The beach is suitable for family vacation, visitor can sunbathing, swim and play with sea water. in certain months visitors can catch a fish and it will be wonderfull experience. On weekend or in holiday season, the beach is also usually crowded by people who have a hobby of fishing.
Bembang Beach.
Bembang Beach is located in Sungai Buluh Village, Jebus sub-district, about 5 km from Jebus. This is beauty white sun beach and ideal for family vacation, sunbathing, swim and play with sea water, camping, and other beach activity. The water on the beach it clear and it surrounded by forest.
Ketupat War (Perang Ketupat).
Ketupat war ceremony is habitually held by the local inhabitants of Tempilang Village. ("Ketupat" is a kind of food which is made of rice boiled in a rhombus shaped packet of plaited young coconut leaves). The ceremony is aimed at royally dishing the people’s ancestors’ dead spirits. They assume that those spirits are flying around their village watching out their descendants and recent conditions in place where they lived in the past. For that reason, the ceremony is also intended to express gratitude to the ancestors so that they will not cease to save the village.
The whole sessions of the ceremony spend two days starting with several traditional dance performances on the first day. Thereafter, offerings for the ancestors’ dead spirits are put down in a place namely Penimbong – a small house made of Menangor wood. That is why this session is called Penimbong as well.
The second day, the “war” is begun by performing Serimbang Dance followed by reciting mantras by the shamans who are designated to head the ceremony. When the shamans are reciting mantras around a pile of ketupats, Serimbang dancers perform the dance by walking around the shamans. The second day is almost the same as before, but the “war” is ended by Nganyot Perae ceremony of which some small wooden boats are flowed to the sea. It symbolizes the inhabitants’ admiration to their ancestors’ dead spirits by “sending” the dead spirits back homes.
The Ketupat War Ceremony is usually held on centred in Pasir Kuning Beach in Tempilang Village, Tempilang Sub-district, West Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Province. In addition, the ceremony is commonly held ahead of Ramadhan month so you can plan first before visiting Bangka Belitung Province.
Lake Sekar Biru.
Lake Sekar Biru is mean Lake that has blue colour. It happen because tin mining in this area. The lake was unique because the water is blue compared to other lake around this place but if taken to be the color of clear water. This lake is always guarded by the local community so that no contaminated. Lake Sekar Biru is located around Salim Perumnas Park, Sekar Biru village, Jebus sub district, West Bangka district, Bangka Belitung. The lake become unique tourism object because has blue colour maybe happen from the reflection of sunlight to the bottom of the walls under the ground kaolin (clay minerals tin).
